NHMRC funding success for hospital cleaning research

We are pleased to announce that a number of the Chief Investigators of the CRE-RHAI were successful in obtaining further NHMRC funding to conduct a large scale randomised controlled trial of an environmental cleaning bundle for Australian hospitals, which is an extension of the pilot work being conducted by our current PhD student Michelle Allen.

This grant, an NHMRC Partnerships Project, creates a strong research partnership between the Queensland University of Technology and the following organisations:

  • Wesley Research Institute
  • Australasian College of Infection Prevention and Control
  • Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases
  • The Australian Hospitals and Healthcare Association
  • The Australian Private Hospital Association
  • Kimberly-Clark
  • EcoLab
  • Whiteley Corporation

The project, entitled REACH: Researching Effective Approaches to Cleaning in Hospitals, will comence in mid-2014.
